SUNBURST PANEL WITH CHOUX
Armand loves attention to detail and precise details are even better. Within his 2 day workshop students will be creating a stunning Sunburst used in Half Testers or Four Poster Beds. This Sunburst will be completed in two halves and finished with a decorative Chou. Students will learn how to make a pattern, how to map it and finally use precise fabric manipulation techniques with a hammer and tacks to create a very tightly pleated Sunburst.
Please note :
*Students will need to bring 1.5 yards of silk or satin fabric for this workshop.
AMERICAN SPRUNG EDGE
Foundations are everything!
With this 2 day workshop Bruno will show students how to build a typical American sprung edge using coil springs, torsion springs and edge wire on a open wooden frame. Bruno will be explaining both whipping and spring tying methods using techniques from post WWII through to the mid 20th Century. Finally for those who have time, the application of a pre-fabricated edge roll. Bruno will expertly guide students around understanding frame structures, potential weaknesses and strengths, understanding coil springs their function and how to choose the correct gauge and size
Since the 1920's the channel back or fluted back chair has been a popular finish for American upholstered furniture.
The need to understand the process, volume and finish is important for today's upholsterers when working on older pieces. In Greg's 2 day workshop he will be guiding students through a number of different ways of stuffing a channel back, using materials such as coir, cotton, foam and horse hair.
