This Sunburst will be completed in two halves and finished with a decorative Chou. Students will learn how to make a pattern, how to map it and finally use precise fabric manipulation techniques with a hammer and tacks to create a very tightly pleated Sunburst.

Foundations are everything!
With this 2 day workshop, Bruno will show students how to build a typical American sprung edge using coil springs, torsion springs, and edge wire on an open wooden frame. Bruno will be explaining both whipping and spring-tying methods using techniques from post-WWII through to the mid-20th Century. Finally for those who have time, the application of a hair filled and stitched edge roll. Bruno will expertly guide students around understanding frame structures, potential weaknesses and strengths, understanding coil springs, their function, and how to choose the correct gauge and size
CHANNELS/FLUTES
Since the 1920's the channel back or fluted back chair has been a popular finish for American upholstered furniture.
The need to understand the process, volume, and finish is important for today's upholsterers when working on older pieces. In Greg's 2 day workshop, he will be guiding students through the method of traditionally upholstering a channel back in hair. He will also be demonstrating other methods for filling with foam and cotton.
Please note:
*Students will need to bring 1 yard of upholstery weight plain fabric for this workshop.
