SAN DIEGO 3 MASTERS IS ON SALE NOW!
Since our establishment in 2018, Upholstery Education has been dedicated to providing the highest quality tuition to students worldwide. In the beginning, we offered only traditional upholstery techniques using horsehair. Since then, we have also provided foam techniques, but for San Diego 2025, our 3 Masters 6-day course will return to our roots and be dedicated to only traditional upholstery, using tacks, hammers, coiled springs, horsehair, and linen twine.
GREG CUPITT-JONES
ARMAND VERDIER - Louis XVI and Empire style Manchettes (Arm Pads)
GARETH REES - Stitched and Sprung Arms
GREGORY CUPITT-JONES - Stitched Scroll Arm (No Springs)
LOUIS XVI AND EMPIRE STYLE MANCHETTE (ARMPAD)
Armand loves attention to detail, and precise details are even better. Within this 2 day workshop, students will be creating two classic arm pads, seen so often in antique and modern chairs. Students will learn how to stitch a rectangular armpad seen on Louis XVI and a more unusual barrel armpad seen on Empire style chairs.
SPRUNG AND STITCHED ARM
Sprung Arms allow an added element of luxury to any armchair or sofa. In this 2 day workshop, Gareth will lead students in the process of building a fully sprung arm with the application of coiled springs, wire edges, and horsehair-filled stuffings. The arm will be finished with a blind stitched edge.
STITCHED SCROLL ARM
Under the tutelage of Greg Cupitt-Jones, students will be guided through a method of traditionally upholstering a scroll arm in horsehair. Working on creating shape and form through the manipulation of stuffing and stitching.
